» Saint Francis University women's volleyball claimed the victory over St. Francis Brooklyn in straight sets to start Northeast Conference play on Friday.
» Madi Tyus (Plano, Texas/Bishop Lynch) led the match with 11 kills followed closely behind was Maggie Hogan (Northern Cambria, Pa./Northern Cambria) with nine kills on the day.
» Kimmy Sweeney (Broadview Heights, Ohio/Beaumont School) led the match with 20 assists.
TURNING POINTS OF THE GAME
After Head Coach Sara McMullen won a challenge on a no touch call in the second set for St. Francis Brooklyn that allowed the Red Flash to tie the set and go on a 9-1 run and never look back to go on to win the second set, 25-20.
The Red Flash were fueled from claiming the first two sets to go on a 4-0 lead to start the third set and ultimately claim the set, 25-22.
FLASH MOMENTS
The Red Flash never allowed St. Francis Brooklyn to lead in the first set thanks to going on a 10-3 run en route to a final set score of 25-19. The combined kills from Nicole Adams (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa East) and Madi Tyus gave the team the first set.
The squad went on a 10-3 run to start the third set and despite a late run by the Terriers, the Red Flash clinched the set, 25-22 to claim the match.
FLASH NUGGETS
It was the first Northeast Conference game of the 2021 season for the Red Flash and the first time the two teams have met since November 8, 2019.
It was the second straight conference opener win for the Red Flash.
