Men’s Soccer to Host St. Francis Brooklyn Sunday Afternoon

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> Saint Francis men's soccer will return home for their fifth Northeast Conference (NEC) matchup against St. Francis Brooklyn 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 16 at the Stokes Soccerplex.
 
>> The match will be streamed on NEC Front Row and Live Stats will be provided.

LAST TIME OUT
The Red Flash defeated the Blue Devils of Central Connecticut State, 1-0. Patrick Heron scored the lone goal.

THE WORD ON THE TERRIERS
St. Francis Brooklyn is 6-3-3 on the season and 1-3-3 on the road. The Terriers collected conference wins against Howard and Stonehill and ties against Merrimack and Sacred Heart. The program is currently third in the NEC standings with eight points.
 
Last season the Terriers went 10-5-2 and 7-2 in the NEC. The program defeated FDU in the conference semifinals, 2-1 and lost against LIU in the championship in penalty kicks, 6-5.
 
Returning for the St. Francis Brooklyn is graduate student forward Khaled Abdella who has started 10 matches for the program and is the team's leading goal scorer this season with four goals. Abdella is second in the NEC in match winning goals with three.
 
Alec McLachlan has started in goal for all four of the Terriers NEC matches and three nonconference matches. McLachlan has allowed four goals this season and has made 25 saves. The freshman goalkeeper has a save percentage of .862.
 
The Terriers are under the direction of Tom Giovatto who is in his 16th season as head coach with the program. St. Francis Brooklyn was predicted to finish second in the NEC preseason poll.

LAST TIME WE MET 
Saint Francis Brooklyn defeated Saint Francis last season, 1-3. The Terriers lead the all-time series 19-15 with matches dating back to 1989.

Men's soccer will conclude their regular season road schedule at LIU Sunday, October 23 at 1:00 p.m. at the LIU Soccer Park in Brookville, New York.
