Offense Dominates in Football’s Victory at LIU

LORETTO, Pa.  – Saint Francis University football defeated LIU 57-7 to extend its winning streak to four games and improve to 3-0 in conference play. The 57 points are a season-high and the seven points against match a season-low.
 
What You Need to Know
» The offense produced 554 total yards behind 281 rushing and 273 passing.
» Cole Doyle started for the first time this season and went 15-of-22 with 273 passing yards and one touchdown. He added seven rushes for 20 yards.
» Elijah Sarratt led the wide receivers with 97 yards and one touchdown, while Makai Jackson led with seven catches.
» Lovell Armstead recorded 10 rushes for 85 yards and two touchdowns, while QuaSean Holmes added five rushes for 62 yards and two touchdowns.
» Joe Toepfer recorded his first-career interception and fumble recovery and Travell Cook forced his first fumble with Saint Francis.
» Donnell Brown had one sack, two tackles for loss and one fumble recovery.
» Alex Schmoke went 3-for-3 on field goal attempts and had a career-long 50-yard conversion.
 
Turning Points of the Game
Armstead's first touchdown of the game put Saint Francis up 7-0 in the first quarter before LIU's Owen Glascoe tied the game at seven late in the first. Sarratt scored a 49-yard touchdown early in the second and Jordan Jackson scored late in the quarter. After Schmoke converted a field goal as time expired on the first half, Saint Francis took a 23-7 lead.
 
In the third quarter, Schmoke converted a 50-yard field goal, followed by a Damon Horton and Armstead touchdown that opened a 40-7 lead after three. In the fourth quarter, Holmes scored twice, around another Schmoke field goal, to secure Saint Francis' dominant 57-7 win.
 
Flash Nuggets
Schmoke's 50-yard field goal was the fourth time a Saint Francis kicker converted an attempt of at least 50 yards in program history.
 
The 554 total yards of offense is Saint Francis' most since Oct. 17, 2015 when the team put up 628 yards in a win over Wagner. The Red Flash have topped 500 yards of offense twice this season.
 
The defense recorded three takeaways for the second time this season and Cook has forced a turnover (two interceptions and one forced fumble) in three straight games.
 
Sarratt's 97 yards were a career-high and he has scored a touchdown in three straight games.
 
Jackson's 46 catches this season through six games surpassed last season's team-lead of 44.
