Men's Soccer Falls to Sacred Heart

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> Saint Francis men's soccer fell, 1-0, to Northeast Conference (NEC) opponent Sacred Heart at the Stokes Soccerplex Sunday afternoon.

>> With the loss, the Red Flash fall to 3-5-1 overall and 0-2 in the NEC.

TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
Sacred Heart scored the only goal of the match off of a Pioneers free kick taken by Lucas Miquel Castrillo in the 25th minute. Castrillo managed to launch the ball past a plethora of Red Flash defenders and goalkeeper Jordaine Jaeger (Munich, Germany/Gymnasium Neubiberg) for the goal.

FLASH MOMENT
The Red Flash's best scoring chance came in the last seconds of the match when Lorenz Ender (Ulm, Germany/North Kingstown) blasted a corner kick from the right side of the field. Sacred Heart's goalkeeper Justin Siegel deflected the ball to the cleats of Patrick Heron (Lauder, Scotland/Earlston), but Siegal was able to block Heron's shot to end the match.

FLASH NUGGETS
The Saint Francis offensive effort was led by Torren Aikens (Baltimore, Md./Mount St. Joseph's) who had two shots on goal and Nico Stoddart (Brampton, Canada/David Suzuki SS) and Ender who both had one shot on goal apiece, respectively.

In the second half, the Red Flash back line held the Pioneers to three shots. In the 58th minute, Tom Schellbach (Freiburg, Germany/Faust Gymnasium) made a lunging block to prevent a Sacred Heart cross to the net.

Saint Francis held the advantage over Sacred Heart in shots (8-7) and corners (6-4), while the Pioneers held the advantage in shots on goal (5-4).

Jaeger registered four saves in the 90 minutes.
