PRINCETON, N.J. – Five Saint Francis women's tennis players competed at the ITA Regional Qualifier at Princeton University this past weekend.
Dominique Yeo and
Bente Vandeputte led the way with one singles and one doubles win each.
Yeo defeated St. Bonaventure's Alexandra Jansson 6-2, 6-4, while Vandeputte defeated Seton Hall's Bella Moen 6-1, 6-3. The two were doubles partners and defeated Northeast Conference foes Samantha Bentsianov and Paula Ysabelle Yu of Wagner 8-4.
Kelly Dowuona and
Anoek Pruijmboom earned a doubles victory 8-2 over Seton Hall's Chloe Hamlin and Aina Plana.
In the second round of doubles, both Saint Francis duos lost their respective matches to a pairing who qualified for the ITA Super Regional Tournament. Dowuona and
Valeria Vinces also participated in singles and lost their matches.
Women's tennis returns to action for its final weekend of the fall season Oct. 15-16 where they will participate at the Bloomsburg Invitational and face Binghamton and Buffalo in head-to-head matches.
