Valentini Becomes Ninth Player In Saint Francis Field Hockey History To Post 40 Career Points In Loss At Wagner

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> Eva Valentini (Junin, Argentina) posted a goal and an assist to become the ninth player in program history to reach 40 points in her career.
>> Madison Waldspurger (Hatfield, Pa.) also hit the back of the cage for Saint Francis in a 4-2 loss at Wagner in Northeast Conference (NEC) field hockey action on Friday.
>> Amber Bryan (Thorndale, Pa.) and Chloe South (California, Md.) each made two saves in 30 minutes of action.

TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
Wagner scored the first four goals of the game in the first half and held on for the 4-2 win despite the Red Flash posting two tallies in the second half.

FLASH MOMENTS
Valentini put Saint Francis on the scoreboard off an assist by Dolores Zavaleta (Buenos Aires, Argentina) at the 40:39 minute.
 
Valentini then set up Waldspurger, the current NEC Co-Rookie of the Week, with four seconds remaining for the second Red Flash tally of the afternoon.
 
FLASH NUGGETS
Valentini became the ninth player in program history to reach 40 points in her career and moved into eighth place with 42 career points after posting 16 goals and 10 assists in her first 31 games. The sophomore, who has posted a point in three-straight games and in nine of the 12 matches this season, fuels the team with eight goals and four assists for 20 points this season. It was the third time in her career Valentini registered a goal and an assist in a game and the fifth time she has posted more than two points in a game.
 
Waldspurger, who notched Saint Francis' first hat trick since 2017 in the game at Central Michigan on October 2, recorded a marker for the second-straight game and the fourth time this season.
 
Zavaleta recorded a point for the third-consecutive contest and now has two tallies and an assist for five points in 2022. The sophomore, who registered back-to-back games with a point last season, has two goals and five assists for nine points in her career.

The Loretto program opened NEC play with a win for the fourth time in 14 years in the circuit with its 3-2 win against Rider on September 30. With the loss to Wagner, the Red Flash is now 1-1 for the sixth time (2004, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2021, 2022).
