Women's Volleyball Claims a Reverse Sweep Over the Blue Devils

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> Saint Francis University women's volleyball claimed a five-set win over the Blue Devils of Central Connecticut State on Friday. The Red Flash were down two sets, but came back to win three straight sets for the 3-2 win over the Blue Devils. 

>> With today's win the Red Flash advance to 3-1 in the Northeast Conference and 5-12 overall.
 
TURNING POINT OF THE GAME

With the match tied at two, a fifth set was required to determine the winner. The fifth set was an all-out battle between both teams. With the fifth set tied at ten, the Red Flash notched a 2-0 run to take the lead and hold it for the remainder of the set. A kill from Burns secured the fifth set for the Red Flash, 15-12.
 
FLASH MOMENTS 

Central Connecticut started off the first set with a 2-0 run, but the Red Flash responded with a 3-0 run of their own to hold the lead until mid-set for the Blue Devils to take the 13-12 lead. The remainder of the first set continued to be a battle between both teams. However, with the set tied at 19, Central Connecticut notched a 3-1 run to maintain the lead for the remainder of the set to collect the first set, 25-22.
 
The second set started off back-and-forth, but the Blue Devils took a 10-1 run over the Red Flash and never looked back for Central Connecticut to claim the second set, 25-12.
 
The Red Flash found its stride in the third set. With Saint Francis down 15-10, the team put up a 6-0 run thanks to kills from Korrin Burns (Shippenville, Pa./Clarion Area) and Skye Eicher (Rostraver Township, Pa./Frazier) and a service ace from Maggie Hogan (Northern Cambria, Pa./Northern Cambria) to take the lead and make the score 16-15. The remainder of the third set saw a lot of ties and lead changes between both teams. However, with the third set tied at 17, the Red Flash put up a 4-1 run to take the lead and maintain it for the remainder of the third set to claim it, 25-21.
 
Saint Francis continued its momentum into the fourth set to never allow the Blue Devils to lead in the set. A kill from Tyus secured the biggest lead for the Red Flash at an eight-point advantage and secured the Red Flash the fourth set, 25-17.
 
FLASH NUGGETS 

Three Red Flash volleyball players collected a double-double in Friday's win in, Emma Fenton (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe), Burns and Eicher. Eicher notched 13 kills and 18 digs, Fenton posted 50 assists and collecting 16 digs, while also notching two service aces, while Burns collected 19 kills and 11 digs.
In addition, Eicher's 13 kills in Friday's win was a new-single game high.

The Red Flash will continue at home to take on Sacred Heart on Saturday, October 8 at 5:00 p.m.
