>> Saint Francis men's soccer shut-out Northeast Conference (NEC) opponent Central Connecticut State, 1-0, Sunday afternoon at the CCSU Soccer Field in New Britain, Connecticut.
(Lauder, Scotland/Earlston) scored the lone goal for Saint Francis to secure a road victory over CCSU.
The opening half was a possession battle with CCSU controlling play and generating scoring chances. The Blue Devils held the advantage over the Red Flash in shots 5-2 in the first half.
CCSU continued to control play into the second half, however Heron struck off of a header at the 77:27 mark for the match winning goal.
Joel Aschenbroich (Neuss, Germany/Berufsbildungszentrum Neuss-Weingartstrabe) cleared the ball down left field to
Lorenz Ender (Ulm, Germany/North Kingstown) who worked a Blue Devils defenseman before perfectly placing a cross to Heron in the middle of the penalty box where the sophomore headed home his first goal of the season.
FLASH MOMENT
Goalkeeper
Jordaine Jaeger (Munich, Germany/) preserved a clean sheet with a penalty kick save in the 46th minute of the match. The freshman made a diving stop towards the right goal post to deflect the ball outside of Red Flash territory.
FLASH NUGGETS
The Blue Devils held the advantage over Saint Francis in shots (16-6) and corner kicks (9-5). The teams each had three shots on target in the match.
Maximus Rigby (York, England/Joseph Rowntree), Ender and Heron led the offensive attack for the Red Flash each posting one shot on goal in the match.
Jaeger recorded three saves in the 90 minutes to record his third shutout of the season.
This is the second consecutive time Heron has registered a goal against CCSU, last season the forward achieved a natural hat trick against the Blue Devils for a 4-0 Red Flash victory.

Frank Olszewski tabbed his 30th win with the program.
