FLASH QUOTES
"To be able to play game and tell a story at the same time is one of the things we try to do. I talked to members of the Stokes Club and priests from both institutions before the game and I said there can't be a better story in college basketball. When you talk about the game of basketball and how important it is to the guys that play it, that coach it that are around it. There is a bigger message that comes out of this game when two teams can celebrate the Franciscan presence. I can't imagine there's another Division I basketball game that ended in a prayer. I think it's a powerful message to the guys in both locker rooms and to anybody watching that there's a lot of things to be thankful for right now. Obviously with the holidays coming around and these guys from both institutions having the opportunity to play college basketball it's not forever. You only have a certain amount of time to do that."
- Head coach Rob Krimmel on playing Franciscan and its meaningÂ
Â
"To give the guys that really don't have an opportunity to play in front of the fans a ton an opportunity to do that and reward them for that they have put in behind the scenes – whether its rebounding during practice or being a part of the scout team or helping guys get ready for games. It's neat to see how those guys go out and compete and then the guys that play those minutes to see how they respond and that comradery and that chemistry that can really carry you late in the season. It was great to see that everyone who played scored. I thought that they did it in a way that was productive. It wasn't one on one "me" basketball. I thought that they did a good job executing. I thought that we handled their pressure well. I thought we shared the basketball. We got the right shot by the right guy."
- Krimmel on the game
Â
"I thought it was a great experience tonight. We got everyone in there to score, everybody was playing, everybody got involved. It was a good collective effort overall."
– Maxwell Land on the game
Â
"I'll never forget it, my first college bucket. I'm blessed to be able to be here. I'm very thankful to be around a great group of guys, great staff and amazing environment. I remember during my visit Coach Krim said he wanted all of us to come out better people. Obviously, he wants to win basketball games, but when he said he wanted to make better people in this world was a big emphasis on what he wanted to do. That just struck."
- Daric Danchanko on playing his first collegiate game and coming to Saint Francis
