The Red Flash ended their match against Howard on Sunday in a 1-1 tie to secure the No. 5 seed in the NEC Tournament.
Alexios Rodriguez scored the equalizer in the 66th minute of the match.
THE WORD ON THE PIONEERS
Sacred Heart finished 6-8-1 in the regular season with a conference record of 4-3-1 putting them in the No. 4 seed with 13 points. The Pioneers collected NEC victories against Saint Francis (1-0), Stonehill (2-0), Howard (3-1) and CCSU (1-0).
The Pioneers' point leader this season is graduate student Lucas Miquel Castrillo who has seven points coming from two goals and three assists. Following Castrillo is Olliver Persson with five points, who has two goals and an assist.
Goalkeeper Justin Siegel has started all 15 matches for the Pioneers. He has allowed 20 goals this season with six shut outs. The senior has made 51 saves for a save percentage of .718.
Sacred Heart is under the direction of interim head coach Anthony Anzevui who is in his first season as head coach. He joined the Pioneers' coaching staff in 2014 as an assistant coach.

Saint Francis has made the NEC Tournament 11 times in the program's history. The program has competed in seven championships but have yet to claim the crown.
The Red Flash's first post season appearance was in 2004. The team tied No. 3 Long Island, but lost after double overtime and penalty kicks, 7-6.
The Red Flash's most recent post season appearance was in 2019. The team was the NEC's regular season champions with an overall record of 10-5-1 and 7-2-0 in the NEC. The Red Flash tied No. 4 FDU in regulation, 0-0. The Knights advanced to the Championships on penalty kicks, 3-1.
