Although the fifth set tied a couple of times, the Red Flash never allowed the Pioneers to lead in the final set. It was a 6-0 run that gave Red Flash men's volleyball the stamina to claim the fifth set. Thanks to a kill from Leahey, the Red Flash secured the final set, 15-9 to win the match, 3-2.

The Red Flash found its stride in the second to get on the board first and never allow the Pioneers to take the lead in the set. A kill by Leahey coming from Schmidt gave Saint Francis men's volleyball its biggest lead of the night at eight points to make the score 15-7. It was a 5-0 run that featured kills from Joshua Blair (Matterson, Ill./ Marian Catholic) and Andrew Deardorff (Itasca, Ill./Lake Park) that clinched the second set for the Red Flash, 25-17 to tie the match, 1-1.

The third set continued to be a battle between both programs. However, the Pioneers were able to maintain the lead throughout the end of the set to claim the third set, 25-20.

With the Red Flash down 2-1 the squad had to answer back in the fourth set to stay alive and the team did just that. The fourth set was a battle in the beginning, but with the set tied 9-9, the Pioneers gave the Red Flash a point with an attack error, followed by a kill from Blair to make the score 11-9.
