Balanced Scoring Leads Women’s Basketball Over First-Place FDU

» Saint Francis University women's basketball became the second Northeast Conference team to defeat Fairleigh Dickinson this season with their 70-56 victory.
» Lili Benzel had a team-high 19 points with three converted three-point field goals.

TURNING POINTS OF THE GAME
The Red Flash took an early lead with six straight points and ended a low-scoring first quarter with a 10-7 lead. They slowly built a seven-point, 28-21, lead at the half after Jenna Mastellone beat the buzzer with a layup.
 
Saint Francis extended its lead with a 14-6 run in the first five minutes of the third quarter and ended the quarter with a 50-36 lead. They built a 19-point lead in the fourth quarter after they started on an 8-3 run.
 
Dapaa opened a 20-point lead, 63-43, with less than four minutes remaining in the game before an eventual 70-56 victory.

FLASH NUGGETS
Dapaa doubled her previous career-high with four blocks in the game after she had only six blocks through the team's first 23 games. She recorded her sixth double-double of the season and grabbed at least 15 rebounds for the seventh time.
 
Maxwell shattered her previous career-high of four assists with seven. She tied her season-high with three steals, previously set on Jan. 15 against Merrimack.
 
Benzel's 19 points is her third-highest total of the season. She had at least three three-point field goals made for the eighth time this season.
 
Sam Miller had 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting, which marks her sixth double-digit scoring game in the past nine.

The Red Flash have their final road trip of the season starting on Thursday, Feb. 17 at LIU for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
