Men’s Volleyball Set for Weekend of Non-Conference Matches

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Saint Francis University men's volleyball will be at home this weekend for two non-conference matches. The Red Flash will take on the Knights of Fairleigh Dickinson University on Friday, March 11, at 7:00 p.m. Followed by a matchup against The Ohio State University Buckeyes on Saturday, March 12 at 7:00 p.m.
 
Both matches can be followed live on NEC Front Row and on Live Stats.
 
The Red Flash look to stay undefeated at home as the team is currently 5-0 in DeGol Arena.
 
THE WORD ON THE KNIGHTS
The Knights come into Friday's contest having won its last three matches. The team currently stands at 5-7 overall. Most recently, Fairleigh Dickinson University defeated American International in straight sets. Jack Lydon led the Knights in the squad's latest victory with 17 kills and one service ace. While Jose Angarita led in blocks and assists with 35 and two, respectively. Grady Hoffman recorded 17 digs in the match for the Fairleigh Dickinson men's volleyball team.
 
Fairleigh Dickinson University has competed against three other EIVA teams this season in Sacred Heart, St. Francis Brooklyn and George Mason with the Knights winning just one set against George Mason in the three EIVA matchups.
 
THE WORD ON THE BUCKEYES
Most recently, the Buckeyes took a straight set loss to EIVA leader, Penn State University on Tuesday, March 8. Prior to the loss, Ohio State University had won its last five matches in straight sets. The squad currently stands at 9-7 overall and 3-3 in the Big Ten Conference. In the squad's recent loss to the Nittany Lions, Samuel Clark led the Buckeyes with 15 kills and one service ace. While Parker Mikesch and Jacob Pasteur each put up nine digs in the match.
 
Jacob Pasteur leads the Buckeyes in kills and serving aces with 211 and 24, respectively on the season. While Cole Young leads his squad in blocks with 38. 

LAST TIME OUT
Most recently, the Red Flash defeated the Golden Eagles of The University of Charleston over four sets to stay undefeated at home. Blake Liprando absolutely dominated in the team's latest matchup to record 19 kills and nine digs. While collecting a new single game career high of five service aces.
 
Liprando currently leads his squad this season with 172 kills, 94 digs and 20 services aces. While Thomas Leahey leads with 47.0 blocks and Ryan Parker stands on top with 374 assists so far this season.
 
LAST TIME WE MET
Friday's matchup against Fairleigh Dickinson University marks the first time the two teams have ever competed against one another with this being the Knights inaugural season of men's volleyball.
 
The Red Flash last competed against the Buckeyes of Ohio State University earlier this season when Saint Francis traveled to Columbus, Ohio. The Buckeyes defeated the Red Flash in straight sets. The overall record between the two teams stands at 2-32 in favor of the Buckeyes. The last time the Red Flash defeated the Buckeyes was in the 2019 season with a five-set thrilling victory.
 
UP NEXT
The Red Flash will be on the road next weekend to take on George Mason University on Friday, March 18 at 7:00 p.m. and continue to Princeton, N.J., for a matchup against the Princeton University Tigers on Saturday, March 19 at 5:00 p.m.
