TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
Saint Francis jumped out to an early 3-1 lead on kills from Brady Stump and Cole Dorn. The opening set was very competitive, featuring eight lead changes and 21 ties. With the score knotted at 12, Sam Lane attacked the middle for a kill and followed that up with an Ace serve to give the Red Flash a 14-12 advantage. Loyola then rattled off four straight point to regain the lead. Back-to-back kills from Dorn and Nathan Zini gave the Red Flash a 22-20 lead. The two teams continued to trade points. Saint Francis had multiple opportunities to win the set, but service errors gave the advantage back to Loyola. The Ramblers ended the frame with an ace to win 30-28.
In the second set, Saint Francis battled back from deficits of 14-10 and 17-13. Zini capped off the rally with a ace that spun off the fingers of the libero. Stump then recorded two more kills and after a successful replay challenge, the Red Flash were at set point 24-22. After calling a timeout, Loyola regrouped and tied the score at 24. The teams again traded points, but the Ramblers ultimately prevailed with a 29-27 win.
The Red Flash fell behind 5-1 in the third set and were unable to close the gap.
