Women’s Volleyball Drops Match In Three to Queens

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> Saint Francis University women's volleyball dropped its final non-conference match to Queens University of Charlotte in three sets for the team's last match of the Gata Challenge on Saturday.
 
>> Madi Tyus (Plano, Texas/Bishop Lynch) led the Red Flash overall with 12 kills and 14 digs on the day.
 
>> Kori McClure (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville North) put up a new career high of 24 assists in Saturday's match to Queens.
 
>> The Red Flash team put up a combined 36 kills and 51 digs over the match.
 
TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
The first set started off back-and-forth between both programs with 11 ties and four lead changes. However, the Royals went on a run to take a 20-13 lead over the Red Flash. Saint Francis responded with a 10-3 run to tie the set at 23 but Queens was able to come out on top with first set, 27-25.
 
The Royals were sparked from claiming the first set to be able to go on and claim the next two sets for the 3-0 win over the Red Flash.
 
FLASH MOMENTS
The Royals continued their momentum into the start of the second set by going on a 6-1 run to never allow the Red Flash to lead in the set two. Queens clinched the second set, 25-14. Despite losing the second set, Hanner Fieldhouse house some great passes from McClure which led to fantastic kills from, Tyus, Allison Murray (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin), Drew Wallech (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) and Skye Eicher (Rostraver Township, Pa./Frazier).
 
FLASH NUGGETS
Both teams found a rhythm in the third set for the final set to see a total of 14 ties and six lead changes. The Red Flash put up a total of 16 kills and three service aces in the third set. However, with the third set tied at 21, the Royals put up a 4-1 run to claim the third and final set, 25-22.

UP NEXT
The Red Flash will now turn its attention to beginning conference action at home next weekend by taking on Stonehill on Friday, Sept. 23 at 5:00 p.m. and Merrimack Saturday, Sept. 24 at 5:00 p.m.
