PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Saint Francis University women's tennis competed against Carnegie Mellon over the weekend and earned four singles and two doubles victories.
Bente Vandeputte led the Red Flash with wins in both her singles matches 6-1, 6-2 on Friday and 6-3, 6-2 on Saturday. She improved her fall singles record to 3-4 and earned her first victory since the opening weekend at the Bucknell Invitational.
Valeria Vinces won her only singles match of the weekend 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 on Friday to earn her first victory of the fall season. Freshman
Kelly Dowuona won 6-2, 6-2 on Saturday for her sixth win of the fall season.
In doubles,
Anoek Pruijmboom and Vinces won 8-5, and Vandeputte and Dowuona won by the same score to secure the two Saint Francis victories. The duo of Vandeputte and Dowuona is 5-1 to start the fall.
Saint Francis women's tennis returns to the court Sept. 23-25 at the Mount St. Mary's Invitational.
