EMMITSBURG, Md. – Saint Francis men's and women's tennis competed at the Mount St. Mary's invitational, where the men totaled 17 wins and the women earned 14. Men's tennis was previously scheduled to also participate at Carnegie Mellon, but only traveled to Mount St. Mary's. Sunday's matches were canceled due to inclement weather.
Gregory Troyan led the men with a perfect 2-0 record in singles and added one win in doubles.
Christian Banti,
Matt Kozar and
Adam Kush all added two singles and one doubles win during the weekend.
For the women, doubles pairing
Marie Discini and
Kelly Dowuona were a perfect 3-0, while
Anoek Pruijmboom and
Mallory Thomas went 3-1.
Bente Vandeputte led the singles charge with two victories, while six other players accounted for the other Saint Francis wins.
Dowuona continues to lead the women with a 7-4 singles and 8-2 doubles record to begin her collegiate career. Kozar continues to lead the men with an 8-2 singles and a 6-3 doubles record.
Women's tennis returns to action Sept. 30 to Oct. 2 split between the ITA Regional Qualifier and Carnegie Mellon Invitational No. 2. Men's tennis has one week off before heading to the ITA Regional Invitational Qualifier Oct. 7-9.
