Men’s Soccer Drops Conference Opener at Merrimack

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> Saint Francis men's soccer was defeated by Merrimack, 2-0, Sunday afternoon in the team's Northeast Conference (NEC) opener in Massachusetts.
 
>> The Red Flash drop to 3-4-1 overall and 0-1 in the NEC.

TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
In the 64th minute, Merrimack's Johan Feilscher was able to cross the ball to Juri Schlingmann in the goal box for a right footed strike into the corner of Jordaine Jaeger's (Munich, Germany/Gymnasium Neubiberg) net for a 1-0 Warriors lead.
 
Merrimack's offensive output came from the duo of Schlingmann and Feilscher with one goal apiece in the second half.

FLASH MOMENT
Saint Francis' best look on goal came in the 81st minute when a Julian Jakopovic (Stuttgart, Germany/Schickhardt-Gymnasium Stuttgart) corner kick was headed by Maximus Rigby (York, England/Joseph Rowntree) into the hands of Merrimack's goalkeeper.

FLASH NUGGETS
>> Massachusetts native Quinn O'Hearn (Nantucket, Mass./Darlington) made his first collegiate start against the Warriors, playing 71 minutes and registering a shot.
 
>> The Red Flash was led offensively by Rigby who had five shots on goal as well as Tobi Joseph (Darnestown, Md./Northwest), Andre Isreal (Clarksburg, Md./Mount Saint Joseph) and Jakopovic who all had one shot on goal apiece, respectively.
 
>> Despite the loss, Saint Francis held the advantage in total shots (17-12), shots on goal (8-5) and corners (8-4).
 
>> Jaeger faced 12 total shots and registered three saves against Merrimack.
