TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
The Red Flash got on the board first in the game thanks to a block from
Andrew Deardorff (Itasca, Ill./Lake Park) and Dunz. However, that would be the only lead Saint Francis would have in set one as the Rainbow Warriors responded with a 3-0 run to hold the lead for the remainder of the first set to claim it, 25-16. Hawaii continued its momentum from claiming the first set to be able to go on and claim the next two sets for the straight set win.
FLASH MOMENTS
The second set was more of a battle with both teams leading on several occasions. However, with Saint Francis up 12-11 in set two, the Rainbow Warriors notched a 4-0 run to take the lead and hold it for the rest of the second set for Hawaii to earn set two, 25-18.
The third set started off similar to the first two with the Red Flash taking the first lead of the set. Hawaii responded with a 6-1 to make the score 2-6 in favor of the Rainbow Warriors. However, with the Red Flash down 9-12 in the third set, the team notched a 5-0 run to take a two-point lead over Hawaii and turn the remainder of the final set into a back-and-forth battle. With the third set tied at 23, Hawaii posted a 2-0 run to claim the third and final set, 25-23.
FLASH NUGGETS
Despite the loss, the Red Flash but up a tough fight against the No. 1 overall Rainbow Warriors with the game featuring 20 total tied scores and nine lead changes.
