TURNING POINTS
After Georgetown tied the game in the 30th minute, Zavaleta gave Saint Francis the lead for good off feeders from Sattler and Waldspurger at 43:40. Muffitt then sealed the win with a tally off a Sattler pass at 54:39.
The Hoyas scored with 54 seconds left to make it a one-goal game and had two shots in the waning seconds of the game. Goalkeeper
Amber Bryan (Thorndale, Pa.) stopped Georgetown's final chance after a Hoya shot was blocked in the final five seconds of the match.
FLASH MOMENTS
Breneman got the scoring started on the afternoon when deflected Zavaleta's shot into the cage 100 seconds into the contest.
The Red Flash defense was also able to squash a man-down two-minute situation earlier in the third quarter with the ball on the defensive end for most of the time and the defense did not allow a shot.
FLASH NUGGETS
Zavaleta posted a goal and an assist in a match for the first time in her career. The junior has recorded multiple stats in a game before when she dished out three assists at LIU on October 9, 2022. Zavaleta is now tied for the team lead in points thanks to four goals and two assists on the year and she has six goals and 12 assists for 24 points in her career.
Sattler dished out two assists in a game for the first time in her career and recorded three helpers for the week after adding an assist in a 3-0 win against Wagner on September 29. It is the second time in her career that she has posted multiple stats in one game after registering a tally and an assist in the season-opener against Queens on August 25. She fuels the Red Flash with six assists tied for the team lead with Zavaleta and
Eva Valentini (Junin, Argentina) with 10 points.
Muffitt notched her first goal of the season and now has eight tallies and two assists for 18 points in her career. The senior, who notched five markers and a helper for 11 points last season, has a goal and an assist for three points on the year.
Breneman notched her third goal of the season to increase her career totals to nine goals and six assists for 24 points in her career. The senior, who has three goals and an assist for seven points, posted six goals for 12 points in 2021 and five assists for five points in 2022.
Bryan finished the game with four saves.
Saint Francis is over .500 after 11 games for the eighth time in program history. The 6-5 mark is the sixth-best start in program history, joining the 2013 and 2015 squads. In 2014, the team opened the year 10-1 and went 7-4 four times (2012, 2016, 2017, 2018).
The win also ends a five-game losing streak away from Loretto. It was also the team's fifth win against Georgetown in the last eight games and the first match that did not go into overtime in four matches.
