TURNING POINTS OF THE GAME

Saint Francis and LIU played a competitive, back-and-forth first half that saw each team have a number of chances to pull ahead.

The second half saw much of the same. LIU came out and put Saint Francis in their own defensive half for a while, but the Red Flash upped the pressure with half an hour left and were on the attack for the remainder of the game.

FLASH MOMENTS

Savannah Schoonmaker (State College, Pa.) cleared a dangerous corner from right in front of the net to prevent an early LIU goal in the sixth minute.

Claire Miko (Medina, Ohio.) nearly put Saint Francis ahead in the 13th minute on a free kick from 19 yards out where she missed just high.

Just a minute later, Miko found Kendziora near the net, but Kendziora's shot was denied by the goalkeeper.

Lauren Pyle (Lititz, Pa.) tried to continue her hot streak in the 21st minute with a long distance strike, but her shot was saved.

In the 43rd minute, McConnon charged a dangerous pass headed towards goal and put her body on the line to handle the ball, colliding with a LIU defender in the process.

McConnon stayed hot out of the break when she made a diving save early on in the half on a header in close.

In the 65th minute, Pyle took a free kick from the right side of the 18-yard box and just missed the head off Schoonmaker in front of the net.

McConnon once again made an excellent play in the 72nd minute when she dove in front of a dangerous cross right in front of the net and caught the ball.

LIU had a dangerous attack forming from the left side of the box in the 80th minute and looked to have a clean shot on net, but Pyle stepped in and made a strong tackle to force the Sharks to reset.

In the 83rd minute, Noa Dorah (Takoma Park, Md.) attempted to put Saint Francis with a strike from about 22 yards out but was denied by the goalkeeper.

Paige Theobald (Tinton Falls, N.J.) came within inches of a late winner for the Red Flash in the 86th minute when her diving header sailed just over the crossbar.

Lauren Persichetty (Staten Island, N.Y.) followed that chance up just under a minute later with a shot from 18 yards out that required a jumping save from the goalkeeper.

Saint Francis would get one final chance to pull in front with a corner in the 89th minute, but Pyle's cross soared past everyone in the box to the other side of the field.

FLASH NUGGETS
