With a two-set lead, the Red Flash sealed the with a hard-fought win in set three. Up 3-2, a nine-point run gave Saint Francis a comfortable lead. A service error by Stonehill gave the Red Flash the serve. A block by
Drew Wallech (Hagerstown, M.d.) and Burns kept the momentum with the home team. Burns sent a hard ball to the Skyhawks side, earning another kill.
After an error by Stonehill, Wallech sent the ball past the front row of the Skyhawks to make the score 8-2. The Red Flash took advantage of an error by Stonehill before Burns sent the ball off the hands of the back row of the Skyhawks and drawing a Stonehill timeout. After the timeout,
Kori McClure (Westerville, Ohio) hit the ball into Stonehill's defense, but their block landed outside, earning the Red Flash another point.
Maggie Hogan (Northern Cambria, Pa.) concluded the run with a short serve to the Stonehill side, giving the Red Flash a dominating 12-2 lead.
Errors on both sides kept Stonehill in the match but pushed Saint Francis closer to winning the match. The Skyhawks could not get the ball over the net to set up match point. With Red Flash fans cheering, the ball landed outside behind the Saint Francis side to give the Red Flash the sweep.
FLASH MOMENTS
The Red Flash dominated in the first set.
Alexandra Sappia (West Palm Beach, Fla.) started off Saint Francis' scoring, landing a service ace on the opening serve. An error by the Skyhawks kept the momentum going for the Red Flash before Eicher tallied back-to-back kills.
After Stonehill got on the board with two points, Saint Francis went on an impressive nine-point run to make the score 13-2.
Ava Holden (Macungie, Pa.) slammed down a kill at the net to begin the run. Three attack errors by the Skyhawks put the Red Flash up six before Stonehill called a timeout. After the timeout, Eicher kept the ball rolling with a service ace. Burns found holes in the Stonehill defense, earning three kills of her own before the serve would return to Stonehill.
Allison Murray (Pittsburgh, Pa.) continued the scoring for Saint Francis later in the set. In the six-point run, she knocked down two more kills with Burns tallying two service aces that Stonehill could not play.
Ahead 21-6, a four-point run earned the Red Flash the win in the opening set.
Elena Arnold (Wexford, Pa.) earned her first kill at DeGol Arena before an error by Stonehill pushed Saint Francis closer to 25. Serving,
Drew Wallech prevented the Skyhawks from making a play, setting up set point.
Laney Wilson (McClellandtown, Pa.) found the back left corner of the Skyhawks side to win the set, her first point at DeGol.
