WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> Saint Francis field hockey had the second seed in the upcoming tournament locked up coming into the game and the only questioned remained would be who the team would face in the Northeast Conference Quarterfinals on November 3. The answer became Sacred Heart after the Red Flash lost to the Pioneers 2-0 in NEC action on Friday.
>> Prior to the regular season finale, Saint Francis honored seniors  Julia Breneman (Mechanicsburg, Pa.), Claudia Ortiz (Madrid, Spain), Ella Maillie (Reading, Pa.), Olivia Muffitt (Newport, Pa.), Sam Murphy (Carlisle, Pa.), Francesca Primomo (Caledon, Ontario), Hannah Rohrer (Puslinch, Ontario) and Madison Stotler (Philadelphia, Pa.).
>> Madison Waldspurger (Hatfield, Pa.) had a team-high three shots and two shots on goal.
>> The Red Flash finish the regular season with a 10-7 record and a 5-2 mark in league play. The squad finished 5-2 in NEC play for the second-straight year while reached 10 wins for the fifth time in team history.

TURNING POINTS
Sacred Heart scored a goal in the third and a goal in the fourth quarters to earn the win and clinch a spot in the NEC Tournament and a rematch with Saint Francis.
 
FLASH NUGGETS
Ortiz, who played her final three seasons for the Red Flash after two years at Kent State, has started all 55 games she has played with 12 goals and six assists for 30 points. She registered six goals and four assists for 16 points in 2021 to earn a spot on the All-NEC second team.
 
Breneman has appeared in 52 games with 50 starts, 10 goals and seven assists for 27 points. She registered her best season in 2021 when she had six goals for 12 points and notched two game winners for the Red Flash.
 
Maillie has appeared and started 51 games in her career with two goals and six assists for 10 points. She posted two goals and two assists for six points and had one game-winner last season.
 
Stotler has appeared in 18 matches in her career and started on senior day. She registered her first career goal in a win against Bellarmine earlier this year.  Roher has appeared in 42 games with two starts and two career shots. She earned her first career start against Bellarmine earlier this year.
 
Primomo has appeared in 45 games and two starts with one goal and an assist for three points. She registered her first career start, goal and assist last season. You may also know her as the team's hype person in the middle of every pregame huddle.
 
Muffitt has appeared in 55 games and 52 starts with 11 goals and three assists for 25 points in her career. Last year she ranked second on the team with five goals and an assist for 10 points along with two game winners.
 
Murphy has appeared in 56 games with 55 starts in her career. She has one shot on her resume, but is one of our steadfast anchors on defense in her career, including helping the Red Flash to the second-best goals-against average in the NEC in 2023.

UP NEXT
Saint Francis will be making its fifth NEC Tournament appearance next week when the postseason begins at Wagner. The Red Flash also made the postseason in 2007, 2011, 2012 and 2022. The squad will be looking for its first win in the tournament.
