Men's Soccer Set For Home Match Against CCSU

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Saint Francis men's soccer (3-0-5, 1-0-1 NEC) will be back at the Stokes Soccerplex for a Northeast Conference matchup against Central Connecticut State on Sunday, October 8 at 3:00 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Saint Francis ended their match last Sunday against FDU in a 1-1 draw to continue their eight-match undefeated streak. Sophomore Mikey Chiha scored the match opening goal in the 21st minute from a Dallan Schoenberger cross.
 
For the match, the two teams were tied with seven shots, while the Red Flash held the 5-1 advantage in shots on goals.

THE WORD ON THE BLUE DEVILS
CCSU is 2-6-1 on the season and 0-1-1 in conference play. The Blue Devils are under the direction of head coach David Kelly who is in his fourth season with the program. CCSU opened their non conference slate in a 3-2 victory against St. Bonaventure. They also picked up a win against Quinnipiac, 1-0. The Blue Devils are entering Sunday's match following a 3-2 loss against Le Moyne and a 1-1 draw against LIU.
 
Junior Austin Rocke leads the Blue Devils offensively with five goals and an assist on the season. Rocke scored both goals in the team's loss to the Dolphins. The midfielder has started every match for the Blue Devils this season.
 
Senior Daniel Wilmore has started seven matches in net this season for CCSU. The goalkeeper has registered 20 saves and allowed 16 goals.
 
CCSU was predicted to finish sixth in the NEC's Preseason Coaches Poll.

LAST TIME WE MET
Saint Francis leads the all-time series 9-6-3 with winning the last four matches. The Red Flash are 5-2-1 against the Blue Devils in Loretto.
 
Junior Patrick Heron has scored in the last two meetings against the Blue Devils. Heron scored a natural hat trick in 2021 in the team's 4-0 home victory. Last season, the Red Flash traveled to Connecticut where Heron scored the only goal of the match for a 1-0 victory.

Saint Francis will hit the road for their first ever meeting against NEC opponent Le Moyne Sunday, October 15 at 1:00 p.m. in Syracuse, New York.
