Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Secures 1-0 Victory Over CCSU Sunday Afternoon

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> Saint Francis men's soccer earned a 1-0 victory against Northeast Conference opponent Central Connecticut State Sunday afternoon at the Stokes Soccerplex.

>> The Red Flash move to 4-0-5 on the season and 2-0-1 in conference play.

TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
Saint Francis dominated the match offensively, taking 11 shots but could get none past the Blue Devils' goalkeeper. The Red Flash finally broke through in the 84th minute when junior Dallan Schoenberger (Elizabethtown, Pa.) sent a great ball into the box, where junior Torren Aikens (Baltimore, Md.) was able to beat the CCSU goalkeeper and dish out a touch to freshman Álvaro Planas (Valladolid, Spain). Planas was able to poke the ball through a plethora of CCSU defenders for what would eventually be the match winning goal.
FLASH MOMENT
Jordaine Jaeger (Munich, Germany) came up big for Saint Francis nearly one minute after the Red Flash took the lead. A Blue Devils' striker was able to push past the Red Flash backline and make a cross inside the box. The CCSU midfielder took a shot, but Jaeger was able to make a diving stop to solidify Saint Francis' lead.

FLASH NUGGETS
>> The Red Flash held the 7-1 edge in corner kicks and the 5-2 advantage in shots on goal.

>> With Planas' match winning goal, he now leads the team with three.

>> Schoenberger recorded his second straight assist. Aikens picked up his second assist of the season.

>> Nine different players accounted for the Red Flash's shot attempts. Maximus Rigby (York, England), Patrick Heron (Lauder, Scotland) and Joschi Schelb (Freiburg, Germany) led the team with two apiece.

>> Jaeger finished off the match with two saves. The sophomore now has four clean sheets on the season and nine in his career.

>> With the win, Saint Francis is now 5-0 against Central Connecticut State since 2018.

>> The Red Flash are now tied for the longest undefeated streak in program history. Former head coach Frank Olszewski's 2018 team went undefeated for nine straight matches and went 6-0-3 in conference play before losing to Robert Morris in their last match of the season.

>> Saint Francis is just one of seven teams that remain undefeated on the season in all of Division I.
