SOMERSET, N.J. -Â Senior
Emma Meade and sophomore
Mackenzie Keane picked up Northeast Conference Prime Performer honors after their standout performances at the Destination Orlando tournament this past weekend, the conference announced Wednesday.
Both bowlers pick up their first conference recognitions on the season, the first honors of the season for the Red Flash bowling team.
Meade had a career tournament this weekend, with her biggest moments coming in the baker competitions on Friday and Sunday. The Bryan, Ohio, native hit strikes from the leadoff spot on nearly a 70 percent clip on the opening day while filling all but eight frames on Friday.
Meade took a supporting role in Saturday's traditional competition but came up big in their win over No. 22 Tulane. The fourth-year bowler led the team with a 222 pinfall and eight strikes to pace the team in a 951-931 victory.
In the Red Flash's win over Florida A&M on Sunday, Meade hit strikes on five of her eight opportunities from the fourth spot of the rotation, including contributing to the Red Flash's run of eight straight strikes in game two against the Rattlers.
Keane had a strong weekend bowling from the anchor spot throughout the tournament. The reigning NEC Rookie of the Year filled 80 percent of her frames against Monmouth, bowling strikes in six of them and finishing with a tenth-frame turkey in game two in the win over the Hawks.
She was effective in defeat as well, filling all frames in the loss against UAB and striking or sparing in 85 percent of opportunities against Delaware State.
The East Brunswick, N.J., native opened Saturday with a 258-pin performance in the win over Texas Southern, lifting the Red Flash to victory behind an eight-strike game. She also put up strong traditional performances in the wins over Emmanuel (202-pin game) and Tulane (204-pin game).
Keane also contributed mightily in the win over Florida A&M, bowling eight strikes over 12 opportunities and taking part in the eight-strike, game two victory against the Rattlers.
You can catch Meade, Keane and the rest of the Saint Francis bowling team at the first Northeast Conference regular season tournament in North Brunswick, N.J on November 11-12. Most tournaments will be streamed live on the team's Facebook page, and the latest updates will be posted to the team's X page.
