Men’s Soccer Shuts Out Howard, Wins NEC Regular Season Title

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> Saint Francis men's soccer shut out Howard 3-0 to complete the regular season undefeated and win the Northeast Conference regular season title. 
 
>> The Red Flash finished the regular season 7-0-7 overall and 5-0-3 in conference. 

TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
In the 16th minute, Julian Jakopovic (Stuttgart, Germany) perfectly placed a corner kick to the center of the penalty box. A Howard defenseman headed the ball towards his own goal to give Saint Francis a 1-0 lead.

FLASH MOMENTS
Jakopovic took a free kick in the 24th minute about 20 yards from the penalty box. Maximus Rigby (York, England) took a shot that deflected from the Bison's goalkeeper. Rigby then put the second effort in the back of a net for a 2-0 lead before the end of the half.
 
In the 68th minute, Saint Francis was pressing and took advantage of a failed clear attempt by the Bison. Joschi Schelb (Freiburg, Germany) blocked a pass from the Howard keeper and Fabian Wagner (Grunsfeld, Germany) nudged the ball to the net to solidify the Red Flash's victory.

>> This is the first time in program history that the Red Flash have finished the regular season undefeated.
 
>> The Red Flash outshot the Bison 21-7, a season high. The team also held the 3-1 edge in corners.
 
>> Schelb led the Red Flash offensively with five shots, a career high.
 
>> Schelb now has seven assists on the season putting him fifth all-time in program history for most assists in a season.
 
>> Goalkeeper Jordaine Jaeger (Munich, Germany) registered one save and now has 11 shut outs in his career.
 
>> The last time the Red Flash won the regular season was in 2019. No. 4 FDU defeated the Red Flash in Loretto 3-1 in penalty kicks in the semifinals.
