Timm Named Prime Performer After Hawk Classic Outing

SOMERSET, N.J. - The Saint Francis University bowling team returned from Virginia with a 7-6 record at the UMES Hawk Classic, and senior Samantha Timm had her efforts recognized as she was named a Prime Performer in the weekly Northeast Conference awards.

The Flint, Mich., native performed well as the leadoff bowler for the entire tournament, as she was the only Red Flash bowler to remain in her role for the entire tournament. She remained a consistent force throughout the three-day tournament, which played a significant role in the Frankies' seven wins on the weekend.

Friday's baker play saw Timm strike in at least 60% of frames in all five games while contributing to strike streaks throughout the day. Three of her strikes against No. 20 Wisconsin-Whitewater were part of stretches of at least four strikes, with the same going for five of her eight strikes bowled in the win over No. 1 Vanderbilt.

In the upset victory over the Commodores, Timm tallied eight strikes in ten opportunities, with her final shot being a part of six straight strikes that shut down any hope for a comeback for the reigning national champions.

Her traditional performance was key for the Red Flash on Saturday and Sunday, as the fourth-year senior averaged 213 pins per match through six frames over the two days. Her traditional high was a 257-pin performance in the win over Adelphi, where she filled all ten frames, bowled eight strikes and knocked down no less than eight pins on every first shot to lead the charge in the 270-pin victory over the Panthers.

Timm filled all of her frames in traditional wins over No. 8 Sam Houston State and No. 21 Lincoln Memorial, where she contributed 215 and 213 pin performances, respectively, to upset two ranked teams in a weekend where Saint Francis upset plenty of schools ranked in the National Tenpin Coaches Association Polls.

This is Timm's second Prime Performer honor of the season, with the first coming last week after the first NEC regular season tournament.

Timm and the Saint Francis bowling squad will finish the 2023 part of their schedule at the second NEC regular season tournament in Mechanicsburg, Pa. The tournament will be live-streamed on the team's Facebook page, and the latest updates will be posted on the team's Facebook and X pages.
