Four Players Score in Double Figure During Women’s Basketball’s Loss at Pitt

PITTSBURGH, Pa.  – Saint Francis University women's basketball had four players score in double-digits during its 87-62 loss at Pitt.  
 
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
» Yanessa Boyd led Saint Francis with 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting and added five rebounds.
» Kendall Carruthers scored 12 points with two converted three-point field goals.
» Destini Ward dropped 11 points and tied a game-high with three steals.
» Kameryn Dorsey scored 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting.
» Pitt's Liatu King had a game-high 23 points on 9-of-14 shooting.

TURNING POINTS OF THE GAME
Saint Francis and Pitt stood even at 10 points with 4:21 remaining in the first quarter before the Panthers ended the frame on a 16-4 run and led 26-14. Pitt opened a 28-14 lead in the second before Saint Francis responded with an 11-0 run and cut the deficit to 28-25. Pitt opened the lead back up to nine points, 40-31, by halftime.
 
After a two-point field goal at the 8:53 mark of the third quarter, Pitt led by double-digits the remainder of the frame and as many as 19 before they took a 62-46 lead into the fourth. In the fourth, Saint Francis had its closest deficit at 13 points, 62-49, with 9:44 remaining in the game before Pitt pulled away and clinched its victory.

FLASH NUGGETS
Boyd set a new career standard with her 14 points after she twice scored 12 this season. Her five rebounds marked the first time she topped two in a game this season.
 
Ward's three steals are tied for the second most in a single game this season and only trailed her own mark of five against Rutgers.  
 
Dorsey's 10 points doubled her previous career-high output. She also has at least two assists in five straight games.
 
As a team, Saint Francis had more steals than its opponent for the fourth game in a row.
