BALTIMORE, Md. – Saint Francis University women's basketball fell 85-53 in its final non-conference game of the 2023-24 season to UMBC.

TURNING POINTS OF THE GAME
UMBC and Saint Francis traded points and the Retrievers held a narrow 8-6 lead midway through the first quarter. UMBC then outscored Saint Francis 9-5 in the final half of the frame and led 17-11. In the second, UMBC led 23-16 before a 20-0 run in the final 5:31 of the frame saw the Retrievers open a 43-16 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, UMBC slightly increased its lead to 31 points, 66-35, behind a 23-19 scoring advantage. Saint Francis scored 11 points from the free throw line in the third. After a 19-18 UMBC advantage in the fourth quarter, the Retrievers clinched their 85-53 victory.
FLASH NUGGETS
Boyd set a new career-high in points and recorded her sixth double-digit scoring effort of the season. Her 11 free throws made are the most by a Red Flash player since Jess Kovatch converted 12 on Dec. 19, 2018.
Gibson set a career-high in points after her previous mark was 13 against Morgan State on Dec. 2. It was just her second game scoring more than six points this season.
Artero led the Red Flash in rebounds for the fifth time this season.
