LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University men's and women's tennis defeated Colgate n Sunday. Women's tennis took a 5-2 victory while men's tennis took a 4-3 win.
Women's: Saint Francis 5, Colgate 2
Doubles
Saint Francis took the doubles point with wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 matches.
Dominique Yeo and
Valeria Vinces took a 6-2 win in No. 2 doubles and
Bente Vandeputte and
Marie Discini won 6-4 in No. 3 doubles.
Singles
Saint Francis took four of the six singles matches played, with one of the losses a default result, to win the match. Vandeputte won 6-0, 6-0 in No. 2 singles,
Anoek Pruijmboom won 7-5, 6-4 in No. 3 singles,
Valeria Vinces won in No. 4 singles and Discini won a narrow 2-6, 6-4, -0 (10-9) in No. 6 singles.
Men's: Saint Francis 4, Colgate 3
Doubles
Saint Francis took the doubles point with wins in the No. 1 and No. 2 matches.
Fabio Varella and
Marc Fuste won 7-5 in No. 1 doubles, while
Adam Kush and
Gregory Troyan narrowly won 7-6 in No. 2 doubles.
Singles
Saint Francis and Colgate split the singles matches 3-3, which led to the Red Flash victory. Fuste won 6-3, 6-3 in No. 2 singles, Kush won 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 in No. 3 singles and Troyan won 6-3, 6-3 in No. 3 singles.
