NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. – Saint Francis University women's tennis won its fifth match in the last six with a 4-3 victory over Niagara, while men's tennis fell 6-1.
Women's: Saint Francis 4, Niagara 3
Doubles
Niagara took the doubles point with victories in the No. 2 and No. 3 matches. The Red Flash earned their only win with a 6-4 victory by
Kelly Dowuona and
Anoek Pruijmboom in the No. 1 match.
Singles
Saint Francis took four of the six singles matches to earn its victory.
Bente Vandeputte won 6-1, 6-0 in No. 1,
Dominique Yeo won 6-1, 6-3 in No. 2, Dowuona won 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 in No. 4 and
Nagisa Miyake won 6-2, 6-2 in No. 6.
Men's: Saint Francis 1, Niagara 6
Doubles
The Purple Eagles took the doubles point with wins in all-three matches played. The smallest margin of defeat for the Red Flash was a 6-4 loss in No. 1 doubles by
Adam Kush and
Gregory Troyan.
Singles
Niagara took the match victory with wins in five of the six singles matches. Kush had the only Saint Francis win with a 6-2, 6-4 victory in No. 1 singles. All other matches were decided in straight sets.
