Women’s Basketball Rolls Past St. Francis Brooklyn

LORETTO, Pa.  – Saint Francis University women's basketball defeats St. Francis Brooklyn 74-56 on its Think Pink night. Since its inaugural Think Pink Game in 2009, Saint Francis has donated over $55,000 to local breast cancer awareness organizations.

TURNING POINTS OF THE GAME
St. Francis Brooklyn took an early 10-4 lead with under five minutes remaining in the first quarter before Saint Francis scored the final eight points and took a 12-10 lead. The Red Flash continued its run with an 8-2 run to start the second quarter and took a 20-12 lead with seven minutes in the half. Saint Francis expanded its lead to a 12-point, 34-22 margin at halftime.
 
Out of the half, the Terriers produced a 17-5 run in the first six-and-a-half minutes of the third quarter and tied the game 39-39. With the score 42-41 Saint Francis with three minutes remaining in the quarter, the Red Flash ended with an 11-0 run and opened a 53-41 lead.
 
The Terriers cut the deficit to 10 points, 53-43, before Saint Francis produced a 14-4 run and held a 20-point lead with four minutes remaining. St. Francis Brooklyn narrowly cut into the deficit before Saint Francis clinched its victory.

FLASH NUGGETS
The 74 points are a season-high for Saint Francis and the 18-point victory is its largest of the season. The previous high in win margin was an 11-point victory at LIU on Jan. 14.
 
Turner set a career-high by one point, which she previously achieved twice this season and all in the last five games. Her steals tied a career-high set on Jan. 28 against Central Connecticut.
 
Moore recorded her sixth double-double of the season and her second in a row. She has double-digit rebounds in four of the last five games and is averaging 12.2 per game during that span.
 
Ward set a career-high by one point and is averaging 11.8 points per game over her last four.

Saint Francis hosts its final game of the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. The Red Flash will honor Sam Miller as part of its senior day celebration.
