Softball Drops Game Against Radford

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Saint Francis University softball drops extra-inning game against Radford 3-0. Saint Francis is now 1-1 in extra-inning games this season.
 
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
» Marissa Frederick had her first start of the year and allowed no runs on four hits with two walks and no strikeouts in 3.1 innings pitched.
» Rachel Marsden (1-5) took the loss after she allowed three runs (two earned) on three hits with six strikeouts in 4.2 innings pitched.
» Madeline Barnes, Tessa Thompson and Ashley Wruble each recorded one hit.
 
TURNING POINTS OF THE GAME
» The game was scoreless heading into a rain delay between the third and fourth inning. In the fourth, Marsden took over for Frederick with runners on second and third and recorded the final two outs of the inning.
» The game remained scoreless into extra innings, where Radford produced its three runs. The Highlanders hit a two-run single and grounded into a fielder's choice and took a 3-0 lead.
» Saint Francis had runners on first and second with no outs in the bottom of the eighth but three-straight flyouts ended the game.

FLASH NUGGETS
» Frederick's start was the second of her career after her first came last season in a complete-game three-hit shutout of Delaware State on March 11.
» Thompson has hits in back-to-back games and is now 3-for-5 with one home run in the last two games.
» Wruble has hits in five of the last six games, while Barnes' hit was her first of the season.
