Softball Ends Pirate Clash in Walk-Off Fashion Over Radford

GREENVILLE, N.C. – Saint Francis University softball earned a walk-off win to end the Pirate Clash with a 2-1 victory over Radford. Saint Francis ended the weekend with a 2-2 record.
 
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
» Grace Vesco (4-2) Earned the win with a complete-game and allowed one run on four hits with three walks and nine strikeouts.
» Jordan Pietrzykoski went 2-for-4 and drove in the game-winning run with an infield single in the seventh inning.
» Ashley Wruble drove in the other Red Flash run, while Lauren Aubry scored the game-winning run.
 
TURNING POINTS OF THE GAME
» Wruble started the scoring in the first inning with a single that drove in Pietrzykoski and gave Saint Francis a 1-0 lead. Radford tied the game 1-1 in the third on an RBI triple.
» In the fifth inning, Radford loaded the bases with two outs behind a single and two walks before Vesco recorded an inning-ending strikeout.
» In the seventh inning, Saint Francis loaded the bases with one out and after Brianna Sawyers hit into a fielder's choice, Pietrzykoski drove in the game-winning run with an infield single.

FLASH NUGGETS
» Vesco is now tied with Ketarah DeVries (2013-17) with 447-career strikeouts and Laura Caldwell (2006-09) with 45-career wins. She is 138 strikeouts and seven wins away from the program records.
» Pietrzykoski played a role in both Saint Francis walk-off wins this season after she scored the game-winning run against UIC on Feb. 10. The game against Radford was her third multi-hit game of the season.

Saint Francis heads to Charlottesville, Va. from March 3-5, where they will face DePaul, Fairfield, George Mason and Virginia.
