LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University women's tennis won both of its matches on Saturday 4-3 over Bucknell and 7-0 over Bloomsburg. The victories raised Saint Francis' 2022-23 record to 3-2.
Saint Francis 4, Bucknell 3
Doubles
Bucknell earned the doubles point with wins in the No. 2 and No. 3 matches. The No. 3 match was decided by a narrow 7-6 margin in Bucknell's favor.
Dominique Yeo and
Bente Vandeputte earned a No. 1 doubles win with a 7-5 victory.
Singles
Saint Francis took four of the six singles matches played to earn its 4-3 victory. Vandeputte took a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory in No. 2 singles and
Kelly Dowuona took a 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 win in No. 3 singles.
Anoek Pruijmboom followed with a 6-1, 6-1 victory in No. 4 singles and
Valeria Vinces clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-2 No. 5 singles win.
Dominique Yeo fell in a three-set No. 1 singles battle 4-6, 6-2, 0-6.
Saint Francis 7, Bloomsburg 0
Doubles
Saint Francis took a victory in all-three doubles matches to earn the point. Vinces and
Marie Discini won 6-1 in No. 1 doubles,
Samantha Quezada and
Mallory Thomas won 6-2 in No. 2 doubles and
Sydney Tamondong and
Jessie Thepsouvan won 6-2 in No. 3 doubles.
Singles
Saint Francis won all-six singles matches in straight sets to earn its 7-0 shutout win. Vandepuute capped off a three-win day with a 6-1, 6-0 victory in No. 1 singles, while Discini, Quezada, Tamondong Thomas and Theosouvan all won their first dual match singles appearance of the season. The latter four players each earned the first dual match victories of their collegiate career.
