Men’s Volleyball Claims Sweep over FDU

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> Saint Francis University men's volleyball claimed a straight set sweep over the Knights of Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday.

>> Ryan Parker (East Northport, N.Y./Northport) led the Red Flash as the setter by notching 30 assists, while adding three service aces and three solo blocks.

>> Andrew Deardorff (Itasca, Ill./Lake Park), Trevor Lewis (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) and Blake Liprando (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) led Saint Francis in kills for the outside trio to notch 26 kills on the day.

TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
The entire game was a back-and-forth battle that featured 23 tied scores and only five lead changes throughout. The first set started off a close battle. However, a 4-0 run from the Red Flash featuring back-to-back kills from Deardorff, a service ace from Parker and another kill from Lewis, gave the Red Flash the 13-9 advantage over the Knights. Saint Francis held this lead for the remainder of set one. A service error from the Knights secured set one for the Red Flash, 25-21. This gave the Red Flash the momentum to go on and claim the next two sets for the sweep.

FLASH MOMENTS
The second set was the closest set of the game, featuring 12 tied scores alone. Set two came down to a two-point difference for the win, which went Saint Francis' way thanks to a kill from Lewis and an attack error from FDU. The Red Flash claimed set two, 26-24.

The Red Flash held most of the advantage in the third set by only allowing the Knights to lead early on. With the set tied at three, the Red Flash collected a 3-0 run to take the lead and hold it for the remainder of the set. A kill from Brandon Dunz (Lake View, N.Y./Frontier), coming off the hands of Parker, gave the Red Flash the final set, 25-20.

FLASH NUGGETS
Sam Lane (Rochester, N.Y./Spencerport) recorded his first collegiate solo block and dig in Friday's game, while also posting a new game high of four kills.

With Friday's win, the Red Flash continue to remain undefeated against FDU in the overall series at 3-0, with all three wins coming in straight sets.
