Men’s Volleyball Defeats Queens in Four

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> Saint Francis University men's volleyball claimed a 3-1 victory over Queens University of Charlotte on Wednesday.
 
>> The majority of Wednesday's game was a back-and-forth battle featuring 25 tied scores and ten lead changes.
 
>> Ryan Parker (East Northport, N.Y./Northport) led the Red Flash as the setter with 40 assists and added four service aces.
 
>> Andrew Deardorff (Itasca, Ill./Lake Park), Trevor Lewis (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) and Blake Liprando (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) led the team on the outside for the trio to notch 32 kills collectively.
 
TURNING POINT OF THE GAME
With the Red Flash up 2-1 in the game, the fourth set was the final turning point of the game. Saint Francis started off the fourth set with a 2-0 run to never allow the Royals to lead in the fourth set. The Red Flash claimed its biggest lead of the game in the fourth set with a seven-point advantage. Saint Francis secured the final set, 25-18.
 
FLASH MOMENTS
The Royals started off the first set by gaining a 5-1 lead over the Red Flash. However, Saint Francis responded later with a 9-1 run to take a 14-10 lead over Queens. The Red Flash held this lead for the remainder of set one. A kill from Leahey secured set one for the Red Flash, 25-19.
 
The Royals controlled the majority of the second set to not allow the Red Flash to take the lead until a score of 19-18. The remainder of set two was a back-and-forth battle. With the Red Flash up 24-23 in set two, Queens notched a 3-0 run to claim the second set, 26-24.  
 
Queens continued to control most of the third set by holding the Red Flash to only having one lead early on at 1-0. However, back-to-back kills from Lewis and Deardorff put the Red Flash on top once again at 17-16. Both teams continued to score evenly, but with set three tied at 24, the Red Flash notched a 2-0 run to claim set three, 26-24.
 
FLASH NUGGETS
The Red Flash continue to lead in the overall series against the Royals now at 5-1.
 
Parker's four aces on Wednesday night, matched his career high, which he also achieved in the team's last meeting against Queens.

The Red Flash will continue in Charlotte, N.C. by taking on NJIT at Queens on Thursday, March 16 at 5:00 p.m.
