LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University softball defeated Stonehill 16-0 in five innings behind six home runs from five different players. This marked Saint Francis' third straight season sweeping its conference opening series.
 
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
» Olivia Ulam hits two home runs in her first two at-bats and finished with three RBIs.
» Jordan Pietrzykoski went 2-for-3 with a grand slam and five RBIs.
» A trio of freshmen, Savannah Nash, Tessa Thompson and Madelyn Wilson, each hit one home run and combined for six RBIs.
» Rachel Marsden (4-9) earned the victory with three scoreless innings and allowed two hits with four strikeouts. She went 1-for-2 with one run scored at the plate.
 
TURNING POINTS OF THE GAME
» Ulam started the scoring with a two-run home run in the first inning before Saint Francis did most of its damage in the second and third.
» In the second, Wilson hit a two-run home run, followed two at-bats later by a Pietrzykoski double that drove in Brianna Sawyers. Ulam followed with her second home run of the game and Ashley Wruble hit an RBI single to open a 7-0 lead.
» Sydney Baker scored in the third inning on a Stonehill error before Saint Francis loaded the bases. With no outs, Pietrzykoski hit a grand slam and opened a 12-0 lead. With two outs in the inning, Nash added to the Red Flash score with a two-run home run.
» Saint Francis extended the lead in the fourth inning with a two-run Thompson home run before sealing its 16-0 run-rule victory.

FLASH NUGGETS
» The six home runs fell one shy of the program record set most recently on April 23, 2016 against Bryant.
» Pietrzykoski's grand slam was Saint Francis' first of the season and the second of her Saint Francis career.
» Ulam's game was the first two home run effort of her collegiate career and she now has three home runs this season. She has back-to-back multi-hit games for the first time this season.
» Nash and Wilson both hit the first home runs of their collegiate careers and now four of the six Red Flash freshmen homered this season.
