BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – Saint Francis University softball took both games of its doubleheader against LIU 4-1 in game one and 9-1 in game two. The victories extended Saint Francis' winning streak over LIU to 13 games.

TURNING POINTS OF GAME ONE
» Pietrzykoski hit a triple in the second at-bat of the game and was driven in by a Ulam double to take a 1-0 lead in the first.
» After three scoreless innings,
Brianna Sawyers drove in
Madelyn Wilson, followed by a two-run single from Ulam. The runs were scored via five straight two-out singles from the Red Flash.
» LIU produced two baserunners in the seventh and scored one run before Saint Francis clinched its 4-1 victory.

TURNING POINTS OF GAME TWO
» Saint Francis exploded for five runs in the first inning behind a Marsden two-run double,
Sydney Baker one-run double, Wruble one-run single and
Annabelle Farmer one-run single. All-nine batters came to bat in the first.
» In the second inning, Sawyers hit a solo home run and extended the lead to 6-0. Ulam extended the lead to 8-0 in the fourth inning with a two-run home run.
» LIU loaded the bases with one out in the fourth inning and scored on a two-out single before Marsden escaped the jam with a groundout.
» Wilson hit a two-out single that drove
Savannah Nash home in the fifth inning and extended the lead to 9-1. After Marsden set LIU down in order in the bottom half, Saint Francis clinched its run-rule victory.
FLASH NUGGETS
» Ulam has three home runs and eight RBIs over her last three games. During her current four-game hitting streak, she is 9-for-14 (.643). She is now tied with Marsden for the team-lead with four home runs and is second with 15 RBIs.
» Sawyers extended her hitting streak to seven games, which is the longest by a Red Flash player this season. She is 12-for-25 (.480) with 10 runs scored, four doubles, two home runs and five RBIs during her streak.
» Marsden had her consecutive scoreless inning streak snap at 22 after LIU scored in the fourth. She has won four straight decisions and is up to 41 in her career – two shy of the top-five in program history.
» Vesco is now up to 498-career strikeouts and 49 wins in her collegiate career.
