Zambruno Shoots A 76 In Second Round To Power Saint Francis Women's Golf At NEC Championships

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>> Meghan Zambruno (Mount Pleasant, Pa.) shot a 76 in the second round of the Northeast Conference (NEC) Women's Golf Championships to move into 29th place after the second round on Monday.
>> Zambruno posted a four-over par in the first nine holes and then shot even par on the back nine to finish her day with birdies on No. 14 and 18 along with 11 pars.
>> The freshman has a two-day total of 264 and has carded two birdies and 19 pars through 36 holes. She sits eight out of the Top-18 and 10 strokes from the Top-10.
>> The Red Flash sits in ninth place after two rounds of the conference championships.

Mary Kate Norcross (Chambersburg, Pa.) (35th place, 170), Anna Crumrine (Newark, Ohio) (35th place, 170), McKenzie Gustas (Hermitage, Pa.) (38th place, 171), Rachel Detore (Spotsylvania, Pa.) (44th place, 174) and rounded out the Saint Francis five golfers.
 
Norcross, who shot a team-best 83 in the first round, posted seven pars in the second round and has 16 pars after the first two rounds. Crumrine notched her first birdie of the tournament on No. 2 and added six pars on the day to go into the final round with a birdie and 14 pars. Gustas registered a birdie for the second-straight day with a birdie on No. 10 and had 11 pars for two birdies and 17 pars through 36 holes. Detore had a birdie on No. 8 and six pars on Monday and has a birdie and 13 pars after two rounds.
 
Crumrine and Zambruno each registered eight pars in the first round, while Detore carded seven pars and Gustas had six pars along with her birdie.

Norcross is competing in her third NEC Championship, Detore and Crumrine are in their second conference tournament while Gustas and Zambruno are competing in their first league championships.
 
Sacred Heart leads the three-round event with a score of 600, three strokes ahead of Delaware State (603), while FDU (612), Howard (616), Merrimack (627), LIU (638), Wagner (669), North Carolina Central (671), the Red Flash (673), Stonehill (716) and UMES (739) rounded out the 11-team field. The Loretto team posted a 346 in the first round and then improved by 19 strokes in the second round to card a 673 in the first rounds.

 NEXT TIME ON THE GREEN
Saint Francis returns to action in the final round of the NEC Championships on Tuesday. Detore will be the first to hit the links at 7:30 a.m. from the first tee and will be followed by Gustas (7:40 a.m.), Crumrine (7:50 a.m.), Norcross (8:00 a.m.) and Zambruno (8:10 a.m.)
