LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University field hockey head coach Maria Bettiana Ceretta has announced the signing of Consuelo de Castro (Chascomús, Argentina/Corazón de María Chascomús) to a National Letter of Intent and will enroll at Saint Francis for the fall. de Castro becomes the fifth incoming freshmen, joining Mary Therese Ciaccia (Lehman, Pa./Mason-Dixon Homeschool Diploma Program), Mia DiGenova (King of Prussia, Pa./Bishop Shanahan), Grace Reed (Nanticoke, Pa./Nanticoke Area) and Marie Sattler (Kaiserslautern, Germany/Hohenstaufen-Gymnasium), who signed NLI's earlier this year.

"We are excited to welcome Consuelo to our team this coming fall," said Ceretta. "Her sticker experience and skill set coming from a top club in Argentina will fit in nicely. She will be a great addition to our finishing power so we can continue competing in our conference. We can't wait to get started this August!"

de Castro was the top goal scorer in 2018 and 2019 and helped her Club Atlético Chascomús team to first place. She served as captain of the team. After playing three years with Club Atlético Chascomús, de Castro has played with Lomas Athletic Club since 2020.

Saint Francis went 5-2 in its second season back in the Northeast Conference and advanced to the postseason for the sixth time in program history last season.
