The Griffins finished 1-10-6 and 0-7-3 in the MAAC last season. The team's single victory was over Stonehill, 1-0 in 2022. Canisius was picked to finish last in the MAAC this season. The Griffins are led by second-year head coach Michael Tanke.
Canisius returns six players from last season, including sophomore Tarek El-Zammar, who was the second leading point scorer for the Griffins with two points. El-Zammar helped the Griffins defeat Daeman, 2-0 with a goal in the second half of Canisius' exhibition match on Saturday.

Ross Stewart will begin their first season in their respective positions at Saint Francis following a positive spring and preseason. The Red Flash defeated Penn State and Lock Haven in the spring. More recently the Red Flash took a 6-0 victory against Salem International in their final exhibition match on Saturday.
The team tabbed 20 returners for its 2023 campaign. Among those returners are reigning Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year
Jordaine Jaeger. The goalkeeper registered five shutouts and 75 saves in his rookie campaign.

Milan Djajic enter their second season with the Red Flash following impressive rookie seasons that earned the pair NEC All-Rookie team honors.
Defenders
Torren Aikens and
Tom Schellbach, who started 14 matches for Saint Francis last season are both back to anchor the back line. Junior midfielder
Maximus Rigby returns for his third season with the Red Flash. Rigby led the team with four assists and 18 shots on goal in 2022.
The Red Flash added 11 newcomers to the team, including nine freshman and two juniors.

Saint Francis owns a 11-4-1 record versus Canisius all-time and is undefeated in the last three meetings (2-0-1). The two teams last met in 2021 in a 2-1 victory for the Red Flash in Buffalo.
