Women's Volleyball to Play in Villanova Classic to Close Non-Conference Play

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>>The Red Flash will head to Villanova, Pa. to compete in the Villanova Classic. On Friday, Saint Francis will face Temple at 4:30 p.m. The Red Flash will complete their non-conference schedule against Villanova on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.

>>Both matches will be streamed through FloVolleyball and have live stats through StatBroadcast.

THE WORD ON TEMPLE
Temple is entering the tournament 7-2 after beating Princeton in five sets Wednesday night.

Taylor Davenport currently leads the Owls' offense with 139 kills. On defense, Nalani McBride leads the team in digs with 93, and Samantha Jo Mikosky leads in blocks with 31.

LAST TIME WE MET TEMPLE
The Red Flash last played the Owls in 2009. This was the only time the teams met, with Saint Francis dropping in three sets to make the record 0-1. The Red Flash are 0-3 against members of the American Athletic Conference.


THE WORD ON VILLANOVA

Villanova holds a 7-3 record going into this weekend's tournament after falling to Lehigh in four sets Wednesday night.

On offense, the Wildcats are led by Abby Harrell with 128 kills. Andrea Campos boasts 397 assists this season. Villanova's defense is led by Elizabeth Feczko with 142 digs and Kiera Booth with 31 blocks.


LAST TIME WE MET VILLANOVA

Saint Francis and Villanova have not faced each other in nearly 30 years with their last match being in 1994. The Wildcats came out on top in three sets in their first and only match against the Red Flash. The record for Saint Francis against schools in the Big East is currently 3-8.


LAST TIME OUT
The Red Flash fell to Presbyterian in five sets at last weekend's Terrier Invite.

Skye Eicher, this week's NEC/Molten Player of the Week, was named to the All-Tournament team. She and Korrin Burns, both Prime Performers this week, earned double-doubles in the match. Burns tallied 25 kills and 18 digs, with Eicher recording 16 kills and 12 digs.


UP NEXT
Saint Francis will begin NEC competition in back-to-back away matches. The Red Flash will kick off their 2023 NEC campaign against Merrimack on Friday, September 22 at 5:00 p.m. On Saturday, Saint Francis will play Stonehill at 5:00 p.m.
