Women's Volleyball Wins in Four Over Stonehill

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
>>The Red Flash defeat the Stonehill Skyhawks in four sets (25-21, 16-25, 25-16, 25-22). They improve to 1-1 in the North East Conference.

>>Skye Eicher (Rostraver Township, Pa.) led the Red Flash offense with 10 kills. On defense, Eicher, Maggie Hogan (Northern Cambria, Pa.) and Raegan Rosi (Owensboro, Ky.) each tallied seven digs, tied with the most for Saint Francis.

TURNING POINT
Both teams were eager to win set four, but the Red Flash came out on top in the end. Errors by the Red Flash gave the Skyhawks a tense 19-20 lead before a kill by Hogan tied the set. Another error allowed Stonehill to regain the lead, but it was short-lived for the Skyhawks, as a kill by Eicher and an error of their own swung the score in Saint Francis' favor at 22-21. Each team gave up a service error to keep the Red Flash up one. Another error by Stonehill created the match-point scenario for the Red Flash, with Kori McClure (Westerville, Ohio) claiming the match-winning kill.

FLASH MOMENTS
The Red Flash took a strong lead early in the first set. An attack error by Stonehill got what would become a seven-point run. Eicher earned two service aces. Aubrey Deptula (Boca Raton, Fla.) registered a kill, and three additional errors by the Skyhawks made it an 11-3 score. Stonehill narrowed the lead, but Saint Francis would hold onto it to win the set.

Set three went back and forth, tying at 15 apiece before the Red Flash could pull ahead of the Skyhawks. Hogan registered the tie-breaking kill and earned two service aces in the eight-point run which would help capture the win in set three. Deptula and Eicher also tallied kills, with Eicher scoring two in the run. A Red Flash error ending the run, but the Skyhawks returned the favor, making a service and an attack error to allow Saint Francis to win the set.

FLASH NUGGETS
McClure was right behind Eicher in kills with nine of her own, despite not playing in the first set. Eicher and Emma Fenton (Latrobe, Pa.) each recorded three service aces.

Deptula was clutch at the net for Saint Francis, registering two solo blocks and three assisted blocks. Eicher and Drew Wallech (Hagerstown, Md.) tied Deptula for assisted blocks.
