Strong Defense, Late Touchdown Lead Football to Victory over Stonehill

NORTH EASTON, Mass. – Saint Francis University football scored a touchdown with 19 seconds remaining in the game to earn a 15-10 victory over Stonehill. The win was Saint Francis' first of the season and moved the Red Flash to 1-1 in conference play.
 
What You Need to Know
» Cole Doyle went 10-of-25 with 129 passing yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. He added seven rushes for 25 yards.
» Deondre Scott had 14 carries for 59 yards and the game-winning touchdown.
» Dawson Snyder produced seven receptions for 87 yards and one touchdown.
» Carter Glassmyer recorded 13 total tackles (11 solo), 2.5 tackles for loss and one sack.
» Mercury Swaim had five total tackles (four solo) with 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
» Blye Hill and Pierre Royster each recorded an interception.
» The Red Flash defense allowed just 123 passing yards in the game.
 
Turning Points of the Game
Saint Francis recorded the only points of the first half with Mac Plummer's 23-yard field goal in the first quarter. Stonehill score 15-yard passing touchdown with 4:32 remaining in the third quarter and opened a 7-3 lead.
 
Saint Francis scored on the first drive of the fourth quarter on a 17-yard Snyder touchdown catch. After the extra point was no good, Saint Francis took a 9-7 lead. Stonehill kicker Perry Shelbred hit a 51-yard field goal to give the Skyhawks a 10-9 lead. On the ensuing possession, Scott capped off an 11-play drive with a one-yard touchdown run with 19 seconds remaining in the game.

Glassmyer has 29 total tackles in the last two games after he had 12 in the first three games. He now leads the Red Flash with 41 total tackles and is second with four tackles for loss.
 
Snyder set a season-high with seven receptions and tied his season-high with 87 receiving yards. He leads the team with 286 yards receiving and 17.9 yards per reception.
 
Damon Horton had a game-high 72 rushing yards and has led the team in rushing the last two games.
 
Hill, Royster and Swaim's takeaways were all the first of their respective collegiate careers.  
 
Next
Saint Francis has its first bye weekend before hosting Wagner on Thursday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. The game will be the first-ever Northeast Conference football game televised on CBS Sports Network.
