Women’s Basketball Falls in First Conference Road Game to CCSU

LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University women's basketball dropped its first road conference game of the 2023-24 season 61-37 at Central Connecticut.

» Destini Ward scored a team-high 15 points and added four rebounds and one steal.
» Kendall Carruthers had nine points with a team-high three assists.
» Julianna Gibson grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
» Central Connecticut's Belle Lanpher scored a game-high 17 pints on 7-of-15 shooting.

TURNING POINTS OF THE GAME
Saint Francis and Central Connecticut were tied at two four minutes into the game before the Blue Devils led 15-5 at the end of the first. Saint Francis cut the deficit to seven points, 17-10, with 6:26 remaining in the second quarter before a Central Connecticut 12-6 run gave the Blue Devils a 29-16 lead at the half.
 
Central Connecticut expanded its lead to 53-28 at the end of the third quarter with a 24-12 advantage in the frame. The Blue Devils led by as many as 26 points in the fourth quarter before earning its 61-37 victory.

FLASH NUGGETS
Ward is averaging 17.3 points through the first three conference games. She has four straight games in double-digit scoring and a team-high nine this season.
 
Gibson regained the team lead with 4.9 rebounds per game this season. She had led the Red Flash in rebounds during five games this season.
