Women's Volleyball Falls to Chicago State in Four Sets

TURNING POINT
With Chicago State at match point at a 24-22 score, a service error by the Cougars put the set within one. From the right pin, Kori McClure tied the set. An error by the Red Flash gave Chicago State an opportunity to win the set, but Burns beat the block to re-tie the set, now at 25 apiece. A kill by the Cougars earned their third match point of the set, with a block sealing the visitor's win.

FLASH MOMENTS
Trailing Chicago State 14-10, a four-point run tied the first set. Burns notched a kill from the left pin to start the run. After an error by the Cougars, Drew Wallech tipped the ball to make the score 14-13. Alexandra Sappia served the ball into the libero in the middle of Chicago State's side, tallying an ace to tie the set.

The Red Flash had another key run to open the second set. Burns attacked the ball, hitting the block attempt before landing outside. She was then joined by Wallech for a block on the left, with back-to-back aces by Raegan Rosi forcing Chicago State to take a timeout.

Down 6-4 in the third set, a three-point run began a back-and-forth lead change. First, Burns hit the ball off the top of the Cougars' block to gain the side-out. She then notched another kill from the middle, tying the set. McClure gave Saint Francis a one-point lead, sending the ball off of the hands of the block, and falling outside.

FLASH NUGGETS
Sappia set a new career high in assists with 54.

Rosi led Saint Francis in aces with three.

Wallech tallied five blocks to lead the Red Flash.

McClure recorded 12 digs, earning a double-double with 12 kills.

UP NEXT
Saint Francis will face Chicago State on Saturday at 1 p.m. to conclude the regular season. The match will also honor the team's senior class.
