Women’s Basketball Falls in Opener to NJIT

LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis University women's basketball dropped its season opener to NJIT 80-60.

» Marissa Shelton and Harris Robinson tied a team-high with eight points.
» Kameryn Dorsey recorded a team-high five rebounds and added seven points, three assists and one steal.
» NJIT's Alejandra Zuniga had a game-high 20 points on 6-of-11 shooting.

TURNING POINTS OF THE GAME
NJIT scored the first nine points before Saint Francis responded with six points, which included the first three-pointer of the season by Shelton. The Highlanders then pulled out to a nine-point lead, 13-6, just over midway through the first quarter. Saint Francis responded with a 6-0 run before NJIT pulled back ahead by five points, 18-13, at the end of the first quarter.
 
With NJIT staked to a 30-26 lead with 5:31 remaining in the half, the Highlanders ended the half on a 19-4 run and for a 49-30 lead. NJIT extended its lead to 28 points at the end of the first, 71-43, behind a 22-13 advantage in the frame. Saint Francis outscored NJIT 17-9 in the fourth quarter before the Highlanders earned their victory.

Six Red Flash players made three field goals and all six scored at least seven points.
 
Freshman Giselle Eke blocked three shots, which tied the single-game season-high from the 2023-24 season.
 
Five players made their collegiate debut and combined for 18 points.
