Gulycz Earns NEC Men’s Rookie of the Week, Six Athletes Nab Prime Performer

Loretto, Pa. – Saint Francis Track & Field's Clark Gulycz, Julian Saunders, Olivia Renk, Brooke Long, Tyler Craft, and Joseph Sevison all earned Northeast Conference (NEC) weekly awards for their performances at the Bison Opener last Saturday, the conference announced Wednesday.

Gulcyz claimed Men's Rookie of the Week and Prime Performer after finishing fourth in the men's shot put with a mark of 16.21m. It was the best mark by an NEC athlete over the weekend. The freshman is now seventh on the Saint Francis Indoor Track & Field all-time performance list in the event for his efforts as well.

Saunders and Renk nabbed Prime Performer for their performances in the 200-meter and 60-meter dashes. Saunders took first in the men's 200-meter with a time of 22.12. The senior also tied for second in the men's 60-meter dash with a time of 6.84, the third-best time in program history. Renk finished first in the women's 200-meter with a time of 25.60 in the women's 200-meter race, good for eighth-best in Saint Francis history. The freshman now has the fifth-best mark in the women's 60-meter dash as well after registering a sixth place finish with a time of 7.71.

Craft made his way onto the Prime Performer list for the first time after taking third in the men's triple jump with a mark of 14.10m. It was the second-best jump by an athlete in the conference. The freshman's mark put him 10th all time on the school's top-10 all-time performance lists in the event.

Long registered two top-5 finishes in the women's triple jump to grab her first NEC Prime Performer of her career. The junior now has the 8th-best mark in school history in the women's triple jump after finishing third with an NEC-best mark of 11.29m. She also claimed fourth in the long jump with a jump of 5.41m.

Sevison achieved his first NEC Prime Performer after placing fifth in the men's weight throw with an NEC-best mark of 16.26m. It was a new personal-best for the sophomore.

The six athletes combined for both event victories and eight of the Red Flash's 14 top-5 finishes at the meet.

Saint Francis will return to action at the Wagner College Seahawk Shootout hosted by Wagner's Ocean Breeze Track & Field Athletic Complex on Dec. 13.
